Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's first trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of that year.
The win also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an better service.
He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent saved four early break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
