Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles

In the vein of the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
