Doris Makes Irish Selection But Joe McCarthy Omitted
Returning manager Andy Farrell has selected skipper Doris in his Irish team for the autumn internationals, however lock McCarthy is absent.
The captain, who has not played since undergoing shoulder surgery in the start of May, has come back to Leinster training, with doubts lingering whether he will be ready to play against the All Blacks in the US on 1 November.
Lock McCarthy, however, did not make the cut after failing to recover from the foot issue suffered during the first British and Irish Lions Test against Australia in the summer.
Northern province player Izuchukwu and southern province wing Nash also miss out due to injury, and number 15 Keenan had already been ruled out after having hip surgery after the Lions tour.
Dublin province prop Paddy McCarthy - Joe's younger brother - is the sole uncapped member in the 34-man group, but Irish rugby authorities says new Munster pair Edwin Edogbo and Brian Gleeson and previously capped Connacht winger Bolton will travel to Chicago as "cover".
After facing the New Zealand at the Chicago stadium in a rematch of their previous meeting, the team host the Brave Blossoms, Australia and world champions South Africa in Dublin.
"It's an exciting group to the squad and it's a chance for the more experienced players and for those who made their debuts on the recent tour to Georgia and the Lobos," said the coach, back to national team duties after a break to coach the British and Irish Lions to Australia.
In a largely experienced selection, the Dublin club's Prendergast and the southern club's Jack Crowley will again vie for the starting fly-half spot. The number 10 jersey is remains available, as Prendergast and Crowley set to play against each other for the first occasion in Saturday's United Rugby Championship match at Croke Park.
Ciaran Frawley is the additional number 10 chosen as Farrell deciding not to selecting the province's Byrne.
At scrum-half, the Ireland boss has picked British and Irish Lion Gibson-Park and Craig Casey, who led the national side to the summer international victories over Georgia and the Lobos. Additionally, there is a recall for Connacht's Caolin Blade, chosen to teammate Ben Murphy.
Robbie Henshaw, Bundee Aki, Garry Ringrose and McCloskey represent an veteran group of centre choices. Osborne is another option in the centres, though the youngster is also a leading candidate to deputise for Keenan at number 15.
Outside backs Lowe, Hansen, Tommy O'Brien and Jacob Stockdale are included. The winger shone on his first Ireland outings over the summer with two tries apiece in the victories over the Lelos and the Lobos.
McCarthy is the only new addition in the Irish forwards. The loose-head prop has started two of his province's three league games this season and featured in Ireland A's loss by the English in the English city previously.
The 22-year-old was included in interim boss Paul O'Connell's summer selection, but did not receive a cap.
Munster lock Thomas Ahern, who earned his debut appearances in those Tests, is kept in the squad, while experienced Northern province lock Henderson returns after missing the summer matches.
Jack Conan, who started all three Lions matches over the summer, is set to deputise for the captain should the skipper fails to recover full fitness in time to face the All Blacks.
The Ireland squad will meet in the capital on the start of the week before traveling to the US on Tuesday.
