Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Tasks Are Overly Demanding
The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, many players are voicing discontent with several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.
Players have started using tailored sessions set up using Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how arduous these missions have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives
Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but while the majority simply offer skins and a few gadgets, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.
Some of these restricted firearms may soon find their way on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
On Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and functions solely at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you want to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
A different forum member pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at those extended distances.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and possibly Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.
The Bypass
Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.
But when completing the missions in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for completing them in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Upcoming Tweaks
It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply will never acquire the restricted guns.
Currently, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous multiplayer missions, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in coming revisions.
